Although classified as a horror game, The Freak Circus focuses primarily on psychological elements. The game isn't actually scary; on the contrary, players are easily drawn into the characters' stories and the plot's direction. Here are some basic rules for new players:
- Interaction Choices: Throughout this online horror game, you're constantly placed in situations with 2 to 3 choices to interact with the characters, from the clown Pierrot, Harlequinn, the tavern owner, the customers…
- Stick to the Storyline: Your character, Voya, is forced to accept a mysterious circus ticket, and all the trouble begins from there. Each character in the circus is bizarre. Analyze their dialogue and make appropriate choices to soothe their emotions or uncover their true purpose and rank within the circus.
Endings in The Freak Circus
Your choices will lead you to 4 different endings. Note that there will be a bad ending. This ending occurs on Day 1 if you don't choose "Do Nothing" when you encounter Pierrot being bullied on the street. In the remaining endings, you can aim to build and develop a romantic relationship with Pierrot or Harlequin. These aren't the only endings in this horror game, as according to developer Garula, there are more endings under development and being added.
